Bergen op Zoom

In Bergen op Zoom, four physically challenging mountain bike routes have been set out. Relax through exertion!

Boslust route (16.3 km) is an ideal route for the beginner MTB rider who wants to get to know the sport. There are hardly any hills in this route, but a lot of false flat. The route runs through heathland and dense pine forests, offering a lot of variety.
Start and finish of the route: Natuurpoort Lievensberg, Boslustweg 1, Bergen op Zoom.

Halsteren route (5 km) has boggy surfaces and abrupt height differences. This is because the route is set on the earthen fortification and inundation area (flood plain) of the West Brabant Waterline and around the Grote Melanen fens. Riding on and along the fortified history of Bergen op Zoom and its surroundings(Fort de Roovere and Pinssen and the Liniewal), this route offers an extra dimension and challenge. Especially during the winter months, this route is a physical challenge for many. On this route, you will find short, spirited root slopes and a play meadow with some wooden northshore elements.
Starting and finishing point of the route: Fort de Roovere, Ligneweg, Halsteren.

Bergse Heide route (4.6 km) is intended for the more experienced mountain biker and is considered technically challenging. The route is hilly. Combined with the technical trail features and, in summer, the loose sand, it requires a lot of skill from cyclists.
Starting and finishing point of the route: Col du Kragge, Bergsebaan 27, Bergen op Zoom

Col du Kragge (5.3 km)
Where the Bergse landfill site once stood, a challenging trail has now been created in a beautiful nature reserve. The highest point is 30 metres, making it the highest point of the Brabantse Wal. Col du Kragge is a technically demanding trail. For those who regularly compete, it is also an excellent training course. With a length of 5.3 km and elevation changes of up to 25 metres, there is plenty of challenge. The trail features spectacular descents and climbs with a gradient of 20 per cent, a number of consecutive banked bends, rock formations, boardwalks and wooden obstacles designed to provide an extra challenge. It is not suitable for less experienced mountain bikers.
Start and finish of the route: Col du Kragge, Bergsebaan 27, Bergen op Zoom

The routes are signposted, which is ideal. You simply follow the signs featuring a triangle and two dots – the international mountain bike symbol – and before you know it, you’ll be weaving from bend to bend along the single tracks.
