Steenbergen
North of Bergen op Zoom, partly on the foothills of De Brabantse Wal, lies Steenbergen. Those who like to be active can 'out-door' to their heart's content here.
With the former fortified town Steenbergen as its main town, the villages of Dinteloord, De Heen, Heense Molen, Kruisland, Nieuw-Vossemeer and Welberg also belong to this municipality. Steenbergen tells the story of reclaimed land, which was repeatedly abandoned to the sea or flooded as a line of defence. Steenbergen is mainly polder land, but on a scale that makes it a beautiful landscape. Narrow polder roads lined with poplars meander through the area over dykes, making it attractive for bicycle tourists.

Benedensas
On the Volkerak, in the Steenbergsche Vliet in De Heen, lies this historic lock complex.
In the middle of the village of Nieuw-Vossemeer, known from the children's novel and TV series of the same name Merijntje Gijzen, an old mooring post recalls the level the water reached during the 1953 flood disaster. Steenbergen is rich in water and offers good opportunities for water recreationists. The excellently equipped marinas are easily accessible from Zeeland and South Holland. Access from the Volkerak to the Steenbergse Vliet via the idyllic-looking lock complex Benedensas is unique. The connection to the boating route network offers fantastic opportunities to explore the region from the water. Those who like to be active can 'outdo' to their heart's content. Scrambling, survival, canoeing and spending the night on a raft are all possible in Steenbergen.
