Ravelijn op den Zoom is still one of the few remnants of Bergen op Zoom 's illustrious fortifications designed by Menno van Coehoorn. The Berg fortress was an important part of the Zuiderwaterlinie, guarding access from the south to Holland and Zeeland. When visiting the Ravelijn, the City Guides Bergen op Zoom will lead you around this pentagonal island and visit the casemates. The walk takes 1 hour.
The Ravelijn has limited access for the disabled; the casemates are not accessible for wheelchair users, people with walkers or with a buggy.
