Take a guided walk on and around the Waterschans. Starting point is the information point in the hall of Jachtbouwer Bruijs on the Havendijk.

The Waterschans is old. It was commissioned in 1584 and served as a defensive structure and accommodation for some 300-400 soldiers. After that, the Waterschans was mainly known as an oyster farm, lobster park and meanwhile, industry was advancing. In recent years, the area has been reconstructed according to drawings found from around 1880. During the preparation work, oyster pits from the 19th century emerged. These have been made visible again with the reconstruction; a footpath runs along them. The eastern section of the dam has been used to walk from the outer wall via a cycle path and footpath to the terre of the fort. This can be done via a bridge and a passage in the fort's walls. This fort is also very recognisable in design and resembles the Ravelijn, Fort de Roovere, Fort Henricus and Beneden-Sas. The guided tour lasts 1.5 hours.
