Built as an oil mill, the Assumburg mill originates from the Zaan region. There, the mill was commissioned by Mr Andries Adolf Deutz (lord of Assendelft) and R. Tip in Assendelft in 1780. In 1897, the firm Ooms bought this mill and had it demolished and transported to its current location in Nieuw-Vossemeer. Here the mill was rebuilt as a rack corn mill.
