You can bathe in medicinal spring water here. The water from the city fonteyn was awarded the official German designation "Heilwasser" in 2006. It owes its richness to minerals from clay and sand layers from the Brabantse Wal. Already centuries ago, Bergeners discovered the healing properties of the water. The first Berg spring was struck in the 7th century. In the Middle Ages, Berg beer was brewed as a quality drink using Berg spring water. In 1631, the city fountain was built. In the 19th century, the Dutch royal family served Bergs Bronwater with every meal. In the 20th century, the Berg family Becht used the water for commercial purposes, after which they transferred the rights to Vrumona; after that, the spring fell into oblivion. In 2005, the City Park Hotel started revitalising the old City Fonteyn. After thorough investigations and various inspections, the spring was restored to its former glory, and since 2010 people can once again indulge in truly original Stadsfonteyn Water. The water is bottled as flat and soft sparkling water.
