De Staartse Heide
De Staartse Heide is part of the Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide. It consists of mixed forest, some height differences (typical of the Brabantse Wal) and heathland. On de Staartse Heide , a large area of forest has been cleared. This is also called the large connecting zone. It connects the areas Groote and Kleine Meer (owned by Natuurmonumenten) and Kortenhoeff . De Staartse Heide is an important area for the nightjar. In the future, the smooth snake is also expected to occur.
Walking: There are two signposted walking routes: Fox (3.3 km) and Ree (Border, 24 km) The routes can be connected.
