Lepelstraat played an important role in Halsteren's church history in the seventeenth century. After Halsteren's church fell to the Protestants in 1647, the Catholics fled to Lepelstraat. This was turned a blind eye. This is when the name Lepelstraat first appears in the archives. Lepelstraat has a curious name. The most obvious explanation is that the name comes from the shape of the street the village originally consisted of. This street, which now consists of Lepelstraatseweg, Kerkstraat and Kladseweg, had a strongly curved shape. On maps, you could recognise the shape of a spoon in it.

Is part of the municipality of Bergen op Zoom(Bergen op Zoom, Halsteren and Lepelstraat)
