Mist

‘Mist’ is a tragicomedy that paints a bewildering portrait of an ageing variety artist, Willy Borél (played by Laus Steenbeeke). When he is diagnosed with dementia, he ends up in a care home. His days there are dreary and hopeless, far removed from the limelight. A far cry from his days as a celebrated performer, when, together with his regular pianist, he celebrated great triumphs… but also suffered a horrific downfall. His days in the care home drive him to escape. To escape into drink and into his turbulent past. Slowly and ingeniously, a complex web of false memories, recriminations, unresolved grief, great successes and the search for identity unfolds. A stellar cast, including Laus Steenbeeke, presents an ingeniously constructed tragicomedy full of intrigue, humour, sharp wit, relatability and emotion, in which nothing is quite what it seems.
