Excursion to Leemputten and Nieuwe Wereldbos

IVN Groene Zoom takes you on an excursion to Wouwse Plantage. Tucked away in the green countryside lie the Leemputten and the Nieuwe Wereldbos. You’ll walk through the Leemputten along a narrow path; this is where clay used to be quarried. The clay was used to fire bricks in the brick kiln at Wouwse Plantage. Nature was left to take its course undisturbed for decades. It has been open to the public again since 2019. The walk continues to the Nieuwe Wereldbos, a landscape park. Following its redevelopment in 2019, it has become an attractive habitat for insects and butterflies. At the end of the walk, you can view part of the old ring kiln. The walk is 2.5 km long and takes about 1.5 hours.
