On 11 November, the Eleventh of the Eleventh, the Shrove Tuesday fire is officially lit. Solemnly, all the Crabs at the Goat of Mie d'n Os on the Bleekveldje promise to make it another great Shrove Tuesday. And that Elf-Elf fire smoulders and glows underground (and above ground!), past Saint Nicholas and Christmas and past the New Year until it really bursts into flames with the Noseball!
