Wunderbaum and NTGent

‘People with Problems’, a unique collaboration between NTGent and the Dutch theatre company Wunderbaum, is a razor-sharp tragicomic theatre marathon about people who fearlessly defy the status quo.

The theatre group Wunderbaum and NTGent are presenting, for the first time in the Netherlands and Belgium, a translated cycle of works by the German-Swiss author Sibylle Berg. *People with Problems* follows, in four parts, the lives of a woman and her friends through various stages of their lives.

They are young. Their expectations are high, their actions tempestuous. They sell homemade drugs online and are constantly available across all digital channels. They date, have meaningless sex and cry in toilets. Then they are no longer so young. They have children and feel the pull of the countryside. Their bodies and teenage selves rebel. Friendships and careers crumble. Nature disappoints.

*People with Problems* is a poignant tale. A desperate attempt to do things differently and better. An escape into nature, crime, love, another planet, a bomb attack. What are we fighting for? How much must you give up for it? What is left to save?

Artistic team
For ‘People with Problems’, the Belgian city theatre NTGent and the Dutch creative collective Wunderbaum are joining forces. Long-standing members of the collective, Maartje Remmers and Wine Dierickx, take to the stage alongside actors Bavo Buys and Laura De Geest. The production is directed by Lisa Verbelen. For Koen Tachelet, this new production marks a joyful return to NTGent, where he served as chief dramaturg between 2005 and 2010.
