Guided tour of Vrederust
Originally from Zeeland, psychiatric hospital Vrederust has stood in Halsteren for over 110 years. There is much to tell about Vrederust's history. Why did this Zeeland institution settle here? What was life like in this psychiatric hospital and why was it a closed area at the time? All these questions will be answered during the presentation and guided tour of the Vrederust estate.
The tour starts at room 4 of Restaurant de Sprenge with coffee or tea. During this reception, a presentation is given on the origins of Vrederust, its treatments and patients' stay. There will also be a glimpse into the lives of the staff and the changes Vrederust and psychiatry have gone through over the years. The presentation is followed by a walk around the estate including a visit to the characteristic main building.
