The Kik play The Beatles, reimagined in their own unique way in Dutch. They’ve been compared to them from day one; now it’s actually going to happen.

The Kik was formed in Rotterdam around 2012 and quickly grew to become one of the most unconventional and beloved bands in the Netherlands. With their retro sound, steeped in sixties influences and Dutch-language lyrics full of humour and poetry, they carved out a unique niche for themselves in the Dutch music scene. Several albums followed, along with sold-out venues. Frontman Dave von Raven has become one of the most recognisable voices of his generation.

The band also proved they could hold their own well beyond their own songwriting. *The Kik Hertaalt* (2017), a tribute to Dutch-language classics, was widely acclaimed. With *The Kik Hertaalt Eurovisie* (2022), they demonstrated that they can make any genre their own, with their characteristic flair and without being overly tongue-in-cheek.

Now they’re putting on their collarless jackets for their greatest inspiration. The question had been haunting them for years: ‘Don’t you guys do Beatles songs in Dutch?’ The answer was invariably no – until now. The performance focuses on the early work of The Beatles, from 1962 to 1966. It is not a nostalgic imitation of the studio albums, but sharp, idiosyncratic and imbued with a deep love for the songs.

A fitting tribute to the greatest band of all time.
