During this walk, the city guides take you back to the time of World War II. They tell about daily life in the city during the occupation.

At the time, Bergen op Zoom had about sixty Jewish residents. Who were they and where did they live? Of them, 26 did not survive the war. Others managed to flee, sometimes with the help of residents who were active in the resistance. The guides show what happened to these Jewish Bergen residents and how some managed to stay out of the hands of the German occupiers. You find out who helped them and how much risk they took in doing so.

This walk shows how the war changed the lives of ordinary people, how people came face to face, but also how solidarity sometimes emerged. You will discover how civilians became heroes during exciting times.
