From sugar factory to lively shopping and entertainment centre. Sugar production once took place here: De Zeeland, built between 1917 and 1929, was home to the Coöperatieve Beetwortelsuikerfabriek Zeeland. After years of planning and development, the characteristic building found a new use within the De Schelde Vesting project.

Between 2012 and 2014, De Zeeland underwent a thorough renovation. The factory halls made way for an indoor shopping centre spread over three floors. Today, you will find a varied range of shops and restaurants. There is plenty to do on the top floor: since 2015, you can go bowling combined with a tasty meal.
