Route Bergen op Zoom and the Brabant Wall - The Battle of the Scheldt
During the 40km route, you will cycle through the landscape of the Battle of the Scheldt. The sloping areas formed the division between the watery Zeeland and Brabant, the province that was the Allies' access route to the Westerschelde. This river was very important as it gave access to the port of Antwerp. The Allied Sherman tank and the Germans' tank trench are visible reminders on this route. As are the fields of honour in Bergen op Zoom, where fallen Canadian and British, but also other allied soldiers found their last resting place.

The Liberation Route Brabant
The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also shows what the Second World War meant for ordinary Brabanders. Eight cycle routes, spread across North Brabant, lead you past Brabant Herinnert-stories, listening columns of the Liberation Route Europe, monuments and museums, which together make the impact of the war on North Brabant visible.

The Liberation Route Brabant is laid out along the Brabant cycling junction network. At each junction, you will find a sign with 'Liberation Route'. Follow the arrows from one node to another. Between the nodes, follow the signs of the cycling junction network. At Natuurpoort Wouwse Plantage, there is an information panel with the route.
